As our student population grows in diversity and ethnicity, I would like our library to reflect these changes. The books I have selected provide engaging reading materials for both students who speak another language at home (Spanish, Vietnamese, etc.) and students of various backgrounds, ethnicities and cultures. Students should have access to books that are both mirrors, reflecting their own stories, and windows that show them others' to grow a life-long love of reading and learning. High quality books such as Gracias a Winn-Dixie and Wabi Sabi will provide these materials to all my students, as well as provide a connection between home and school.
