My special education students at East Ridge are learning how to positively interact with others, follow school rules, organize themselves, and understand their own emotions! They find vibrant visual cues helpful in learning to do so. They like consistent reminders, like their own personalized social stories and reward charts, to take with them to different settings at school and home. With the ecotank printer, our team is able to create books, charts, and various visuals to help our students with social-emotional awareness. Visuals of calming strategies help a student to de-escalate when upset. A personalized social story helps them learn how to behave in ways that don't hurt others. A reward system chart helps them to pay attention to lessons longer, refrain from throwing chairs, etc :)
