Students sometimes have a hard time sitting still in those plastic chairs. I want my students to have their own milk crate personalized cushioned chair to be able to sit on their desks/small group and work comfortably. Since they are moveable, they will be able to move their own seat around the room to sit where they choose. Reading is essential in a child's life. I want students to want to read, but read where they choose. I want them to get to that level of diving into a good book because they are sitting comfortably. I think the cushioned seat will students with their posture and focus on the task at hand. Along with seats, a rocking chair is essential to let students know about what it takes to be an author. I would make this rocking chair into an authors chair where students are able to read to the class, or when a piece of writing is complete, students will be able to share with the class while sitting in the authors chair. This is make them feel empowered to want to read and write.
