Creative Problem Solvers are the Future!!! I teach Visual Arts I,II,III & IV. Aside from learning artistic skills, my students gain a new way of looking at the world around them. How will this help them in the future? Each project essentially presents a "problem" to be solved. Each student has to come up with a solution. As the student moves through the steps of the project, they encounter issues that must be dealt with. Does it look right? Is there enough contrast? How do I fix it? If it's sculpture, does it support itself? What can I do to make it better? What would I do differently next time? They also have the opportunity to work with their classmates to improve their projects. Problem solving skills and team work are used on a daily basis in my class, and I can think of no better preparation for the future than the ability to solve problems creatively!
