I have been trained in Reader's Workshop, by teaching guru Lucy Caulkins from Teacher's College, Columbia University, and am ready to teach - I just need the books! My students need a wide variety of informational books at different levels. While I teach small group guided reading to one group of students, the other students are expected to read independently to practice the skills I have taught them in small group instruction. By helping to fund this project, my students will be able to have just right, high interest non-fiction books which will keep them focused, interested, and learning to read during that independent practice time!
