Our historic building doesn't have the electrical capacity to house needed technology. My library only has 5 student computers. With classes of 24 -30 students, it is impossible for any student to spend quality time on our computers during their once a week 50 minute library class. I want my students to enter middle school prepared, with the computer skills they need and will be expected to have. Adding the laptops will allow me to use the computers as a center, so that students can work on their computer literacy skills, while exploring educational apps, using the school district databases, working on research projects, searching our library catalog or completing projects. The possibilities are endless! As a teacher-librarian, my goal is for my students to become information literate. This means having the skills to find accurate information, not only from the library books, but also from computers.
