I have developed many lessons to help our students, in third through fifth grades, develop their reading and writing skills. These excellent books on famous artists will not only deepen their appreciation for different artists, art movements and art history, but these books will also help them to integrate reading and writing standards with art standards to deepen their understanding using multiple modalities to reach more learners. Students will be able to research different artists in small groups and present their findings to the class, deepening their speaking and listening standards in reading, as well as their writing skills. They will have information about the artists in the books to compare and contrast different artists, art movements and historical/ cultural periods.
