My students are in a low income area and do not have enough money to buy books. This project requests eighteen copies each of Forged by Fire, Maniac Magee, and one Forged By Fire Study Guide. Not only will these books be read in class, but each student will get to keep a copy. My project will be to use these books in class and pull in the new Language Arts Common Core standards. If I can have the students enjoy the book they are more likely to understand it and be willing to write about it. I want to improve their reading fluency and comprehension but also their love for reading again. Project Ready Set Read to spark a flame.
