Our school is named after a scientist, biologist, teacher, writer and co-founder of Omega Psi Phi fraternity. The school is in the center of a very large low-income housing project that is being razed for high-rise condos. The students are feeling the pressure of knowing that they will soon be displaced. I would like to have copies of a children's level biography of Just, "The Vast Wonder of the World: Biologist Ernest Everett Just," for each homeroom and the library so that these wonderful children can know that, like our school's namesake, they can rise from their humble beginnings and become great men and women who can make lasting contributions in their chosen fields.
