We are an urban school in a working class city. Our students need to access information about our changing world and information technology that will offer opportunities to increase their achievement. Reading and discussing high interest, non-fiction material will prepare my students with opportunities to research and discuss topics that interest them. TIME for Kids provides and opportunity for students of all reading levels to read and discuss current events. This publication uses non-fiction text features that appeal to kids and will spark discussion and further research. It is an opportunity to prepare them for the increased independence that is expected in middle school and beyond. They will use these materials as jumping off points to drive their research projects of choice in the areas of science, math, and technology. With the right tools, my students can grow beyond their wildest dreams!
