Hi, I am an EC MAP Core 1 teacher at Gibson Elementary. This means I teach Exceptional Children (special education) in a self-contained classroom (separate setting) at a public school. As I am finishing up my first year teaching, I am excited to make plans for next year. I came into this school with nearly no supplies or teaching materials. Now that I almost have my first year under my belt I have a better idea of what materials I will need for next year. The majority of my students have moderate to severe autism. All of my students have communication needs, and some are completely non-verbal. My students are on a functional curriculum where they learn basic life skills rather than a traditional curriculum. Their needs require more hands on and visual materials. I really enjoyed my first year teaching, but I am in desperate need of more classroom materials. I can't wait to make next year even better!
