By the time they reach high school, students' minds are pretty much made up about Spanish class-- they either love it or hate it. My goal as a middle school Spanish teacher is to inspire a lifelong love for the language by providing engaging, interactive classes while utilizing best practice teaching techniques. However, the COVID-19 crisis has hit our schools hard, and we as language teachers need every tool available to bring these creative teaching methods online with success and student buy-in. This MacBook Pro will enable me to create whiteboard videos, create and illustrate class stories, and better utilize engaging tools like Pear Deck through its seamless connection to the iPad. As we know, students are always more engaged and intrigued when talking about themselves and their friends!!! Currently, it takes days to prepare personalized stories for classes. With the MacBook, I will be able to create and illustrate stories on the fly with student input. I will be able to take these student-driven stories and print them to keep in our classroom library, use them as assessments (speaking, reading, or writing), and create tailored, class-specific instruction for my students. I will also be able to hook the MacBook up to the Promethean and continue using in my daily instruction once we return to in-person learning.
