My art students will be creating paintings that represent healthy foods to hang around the cafeteria. Obesity is high among kids; therefore, my students would like to bring awareness of healthy foods to eat through art. We believe if the healthy foods are being seen in the cafeteria, the students will begin to ask questions and hopefully this will start a continuous conversation on eating healthy and plant the seed in them to want to live healthy lives. Also, some students are not exposed to certain healthy foods, so they really don't know what is out there that is tasteful and healthy to eat. The paintings will be a great learning opportunity for this. The supplies requested, such as, paint, the canvases, and paint brushes are needed to paint the healthy foods on the canvases. The paint trays will be used for the students to put their paint on and mix colors. Overall, all of the supplies are needed to create the healthy food art piece.
