These classroom items will enhance the STEAM culture that I strive to create. My students really enjoy hands-on learning especially when paired with real-world connections. These requested items would perfectly fit with my "Avatar: Discover Pandora" themed room. The plants and marine specimens tie into Avatar's vision of water on land; unique animals and their environments. Since my students are eager learners wanting more experiences of real-world connections, the supplies would be readily available and unlimited for their exploration to discover Pandora. A classroom of living organisms would promote a mindful culture that is built on care and respect to the Earth. The aquarium, biospheres, and plants would promote responsibility and stewardship, as well as encouraging compassion and empathy for all life. The microscopes will allow us to explore deeper and appreciate the science behind the creation of life. My previous profession, a Marine Biologist, was triggered at an early age and this motivated me to do well in school, graduate, and go to college. My hope is to do the same for my students: using STEAM projects as a gateway to possible science professions.
