The StoryWorks Jr. Series is phenomenal in engaging students in interesting and appropriate text. I was able to secure a few of these magazines last year and used them with my small group reading. The children dearly loved reading them together. The content, the magazine format, and the corresponding videos all played an equally important role in capturing the interest of each student. Securing the Story Works Jr. series will enhance my small group instruction by engaging the reader, building background knowledge and building necessary comprehension skills. I have seen how this resource will engage even the most reluctant reader. It sparks class discussions and provides interesting, heart-felt topics for writing. The teacher's edition comes with lesson plans, extended activities and lists the standards to be covered in the current issue. Our second graders will benefit from this valuable resource- a lot of "bang for your buck". Why should reading instruction be boring or arduous? The opportunity to provide this resource to my students will have life-long effects.
