Our students will learn about different types of art and the artists who created them. We will not only be creating pieces of art that are inspired by what we learn, but we will be reading about and studying the artists and trying to learn about what makes a person creative and become great at what they love. We will be using watercolor and acrylic paint, paper, and other art supplies to create pieces of art that are inspired by artists such as Klee, Kandinsky, Van Gogh, and O'Keeffe. This unit inspires many students to think creatively in many different areas of their life and it teaches them about dedication and putting your best effort into everything that you do. For many of the students I have formerly done this unit with, it is what they remember most about 4th grade. It gives them a chance to learn and gives many kids a chance to shine when they have not always felt successful in other areas.
