These books will help build our social and emotional library in the classroom. By reading aloud and having discussions or writing time about the themes in these books and the characters' choices will help my students gain important social/emotional background information to help them make more positive choices for themselves, and hopefully others. For example, when reading the book "When Sophie Gets Angry, Really Really Angry", we will be able to discuss that all emotions are valid, but the way we react or reflect can have an impact on ourselves and others. Another example could be when reading "The Busy Body Book" we will be able to discuss how each part of our body plays important roles in helping or hurting other parts of our body, including being mindful towards oneself and others, the five senses, and how the brain works. We will be able to create the positive social and emotional environment necessary to be successful learners by having books to help guide our learning.
