Students learn best when they are given choices and the opportunity to make decisions for themselves; whether that is how they want to present the information they've learned, what books they want to read, and how they best learn. Though my students are 5th graders many of them lack the ability to read the same books as their peers.
Through the use of technology, we will close the reading gap, allowing students to be able to experience books at their interest level to discuss with others.
The products I have chosen are all centered around expanding on student choice: making it so that students who are at lower reading levels can still participate in book groups they're interested in, comfortable floor seats and desks to work in a fashion that suits each individual student best, as well as tablets with headphones to minimize distraction. These lightweight options can be moved anywhere in the classroom to allow different students to group and regroup in whatever fashion that works best for them.
