Sewing is a life skill that many students are leaving school having never learned. As the only sewing class in the district, I have the opportunity to teach student basic hand and sewing machine skills. Skills that will benefit students throughout their life. We currently have several machines that cannot make it through a single class period without having a major issue. Students of all educational abilities participate in my class and need working sewing machines to minimize their frustration levels and increase their feelings of success. My elective course is one that, regardless of a student's academic ability, student's should be able to feel successful. The students will be able to complete projects more successfully with machines that work on a consistent basis.
