Scholastic News will enhance the reading of my students with informational text. Every issue contains current events and lesson plans. It will enhance their education in multiple subjects and educate them about the world around them. Children love to read fictional text, but they often refrain from reading non-fiction texts. This is often because they don't feel that it is as exciting. Scholastic News proves them wrong. It is high interest as well as educational. It is important to be able to read informational texts and to keep up with current events. I plan to use Scholastic News every week and to tie other lessons to it. The built in lesson plans will help. The multiple articles in the issues ensure that there will always be something that every student likes.
