I would like to incorporate flexible seating options in my classroom. Traditional desks and chairs do not accommodate some students' need for rocking, wobbling, and movement. My students would greatly benefit from flexible seating options in my classroom. As research tells us, movement regulates blood flow and supplies oxygen to the brain, which will keep students alert and focused. Staying alert and focused will help students engage in learning. An uncomfortable student is more likely to become distracted and/or act out with undesirable behavior, but flexible seating will promote higher productivity. Ease of collaboration/movement, choice seating, and meeting sensory needs are other reasons to consider flexible seating. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
