I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th graders is a large inner city middle school. My students love to read and they love project based learning. There is a wide variety of cultures and socioeconomic groups at my school. My students need 30 copies of Brown Girl Dreaming by Jaqueline Woodson. The class I teach is an enrichment class so there are unlimited opportunities to use the requested book to teach multiple skills and do a wide variety of projects.
