I teach sixth graders in a rural school in a small town in Arkansas. We are 100% free lunch and live in an area that has a drug problem. Our kids don't know if they will eat supper or if their parent(s) will be there when they get home. Our school is the center of our community. Our kids want to learn and love to learn. Unfortunately, since we are a small school in a community where poverty is ever so present, we cannot afford a lot of luxuries. If I could provide a way for my students to be able to interact with technology on a daily basis, I believe they would be better prepared for their future. Having the world at their fingertips would allow them to go places they have only ever dreamed about. It would allow them to explore, extend, and challenge themselves in ways they have never been able to before. Having Chrome books for every student would be a dream come true for my students and myself.
