As a special educator, I'm always thinking about what brings students together and what sets them apart. Very often curriculums and teachers still unwittingly exclude students with language and learning disabilities. (It's a really hard thing to do that is hardly ever taught.) Games promote coordination, fine motor skills, turn-taking, communication, and social skills to start. Peers learning to support one another during unstructured times (indoor recess, free time, parties) while fostering valuable foundational skills is very effective and will hopefully translate into adults supporting one another in life.
