In our classroom, students are exposed to a variety of programs, applications and technology based platforms. Many of the assessments students take include Evaluate, SBAC and STMath.
Technology based assessments give our students’ immediate feedback which allows for an expedited intervention plan. Applications used in the classroom include Nearpod, Doceri and Prezi. These applications are fun filled and exciting ways to gauge students’ understanding of a topic.
Google Classroom along with google docs, forms and slides are being utilized as much as possible. Assignments, Project Based Learning and assessments can be utilized through the use of Google Classroom. Technology based programs, applications and platforms allow for student growth and takes many of the traditional time of evaluating, grading and preparation to a minimum allowing us to interact in a new and more efficient manner.
The classroom goal is to create a technology rich environment. Our students have grown up in a culture rich in technology however, there is a need for them to grow the skills needed to become successful in a competitive and global workplace. In order for that to become a reality they must have access to the proper tools. The hope is for each student to have access to a reliable computer.
I have an average of 27 students. Each grade level shares a technology cart which limits access and the ability to practice the skills needed to become technology proficient. A set of Chromebooks would allow students to receive an individualized curriculum, and allow for more one on one instruction for students in need.
Computer literacy is an integral component of any student’s learning plan. By providing students with access to the technology they gain unprecedented access to resources and information. Chromebooks help engage students with interactive lessons and prepare them for an increasingly digital workforce.
