For the last 3 years, I have moved up with my class of unique and special students on the autism spectrum. I teach in a 6:1:1 (students:teacher:paraprofessional) classroom, located in a specialized school for children with severe disabilities. My school is in a low income neighborhood in Queens, NY. The children often come from low income families, and do not have access to technology at home. Some of my kiddies use their words to express themselves, where as others are non-verbal. They communicate through sign language, picture symbols, or speech-generating devices. I have watched my students grow into wonderful little humans over the last 3 years! I can't wait to see what they will accomplish with the materials we are requesting!
