You have made a valuable contribution to my students' music education experience.\r\n\r\nThe new instruments were received in May and were used for the 8th grade graduation at the close of last school year. Our multi-site band is called R.E.P. which is an acronym for Robert E. Peary School. The sensory-rich materials we have received, along with the ample flexible seating options and accommodations, have provided a support environment for all students with unique sensory needs. They have been consistently enthusiastic about transitioning between activities, and extra engaged in more rigorous curricula tasks that allow for scaffolding of new skills. Students now have the power of choice in more areas of their day- they choose where to engage with therapeutic tasks and which creative mediums to use. The most popular items have been the foam sensory paint kit, kick bands on their chairs, and comfortable floor seating. Noise canceling headphones are often sought after during school assemblies, and particularly noisy lunch periods.
