Algebra is the cornerstone that all other high school math is built upon. Our goal is to help students develop good critical thinking skills, understand mathematical relationships, and build logical thinking skills that students can carry with them throughout life. Coming back from the pandemic has left many families in situations that do not allow them to provide the extra paper, drawing tools, and other accessories used to create the INB. We begin the INB on the first day, letting students individualize their notebooks; by the end of the year, students are truly relieved to have their own book with all of the important and relevant material available so that they can easily study for school, state, and college-entry exams. Success is our ultimate goal! Enabling my students to create the INB throughout the year will improve their knowledge of Algebra, help them stay organized and understand why organization is important, and foster productive attitudes toward completing the work in my class. My observation of classes that use INBs has been very positive. Students will also benefit from learning curriculum, being able to use their completed INB as a reference tool, and feeling that math can be fun and accessible.
