My school is located in Kanawha County, West Virginia, and it is home to 650 middle school students. The school is the heart of this area and is a source of pride for the community. The staff and administration are a close knit group, which has created a pleasant atmosphere for teachers to work and students to learn. With that being said, we do face challenges. Many of our students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and qualify for free or reduced lunch. A loss of jobs in the community has only added to the problem. However, facing this adversity does not prevent them from being exceptional students and displaying a hunger to learn. They are hardworking and caring children that deserve a classroom that will put them in a position to succeed.
