My students have multitudes within them, many are just not aware of it and those who are lack a way to express themselves because the have not had the opportunity or time to do so. Often through writing my students discover a better understanding of the world and themselves. My school is located in a large urban district with one of the countries highest poverty rates. My students come to class with experiences beyond those many of us will have in an entire lifetime.
