We live in a rural district. The students are mostly poor as is our district. The students do not have a lot of access to academic materials. Our classroom funding has been reduced over the past few years as well. We will most likely be getting $200 this year to cover all of our classroom expenses like paper, pencils, dry erase markers and erasers, etc. This amount does not leave enough funds to buy books for the students to read in the classroom, so I buy most of them myself. We have a school library that the students visit each week, but they can only check out one book per week. Many students who would like to read more do not just because of the lack of access to literature. In our school we have students and teachers who value learning and education, but in most cases lack the resources that we need.
