Fine arts does encompass both art and music, and while there is a budget for purchasing materials and instruments for our classrooms, this budget rotates based on the needs of the department between the choral, band, orchestra, art, and general music programs. Sadly, the general music program, while the largest in the district, is the group that benefits the least from this budget. Ms. Young's music classes would love to add tubano drums to our classroom! While drumming is a way for us to explore world music and learn about cultures, it also helps reduce anxiety and tension. In addition to this, drumming and rhythmic activities can help increase reading skills amongst our students. Helping us raise the funds for tubano drums will allow for creative music making and student engagement, especially when used with other non-pitched percussion instruments. Help us explore the world through drumming!
