"Technology can become the “wings” that will allow the educational world to fly farther and faster than ever before—if we will allow it." My 5th graders are growing up in a digital age where technology is a major component of their every day life and this statement is truer than ever. I believe that it is important to embrace that fact and meet students exactly where they are. I am honored to spend my day with a group of diverse learners who come to school ready and willing to put forth their personal best. We are eager to learn and laugh together and have a classroom dynamic that feels a lot like family. One of the joys of teaching is not only being able to teach the required curriculum, but also the hidden curriculum of social skills and citizenship. In an age where we all have a digital footprint, I believe that it is important to instill a sense of responsibility and accountability with students who are already using social media and technology in their everyday lives.
