My entire student body is grades 7-12 and only houses about 330 students total. Around 80% of those students pass through our science classrooms. Finding a balance between going back to school safely, and providing excellent hands-on opportunities is going to be challenging, but that hands-on approach is vital to my department's mission. By using large disinfectant cabinets in each lab classroom, we could daily sterilize lab equipment, goggles, masks, calculators, cell phones, and other shared materials. This would prevent us from having to purchase individual goggles for all students, more glassware for individual use, and other costly items. These would also be put to great use after this health crisis - for example sterilizing agar plates for biological samples.
