My students love to draw and share their art. I often struggle to nurture this creativity as we are consumed with learning all of our curriculum and preparing for our end of year tests. This year is the year I want to change my thinking and foster their creativity and imagination. My wish for my students is to build life-long problem solvers and creative thinkers. This project will allow my students to positively express their thoughts, ideas, and emotions while we build community in the classroom.
I want to facilitate tolerance and understanding in my students by allowing them to share their ideas in a safe environment as they learn to creatively express themselves and get along with others.
Students will be able to suggest prompts for writing and drawing which will be chosen weekly. They will have the opportunity to both draw and write with their sketch diary and colored pencils to express their vision. Time will be allotted during the week to share as we practice giving positive feedback.
