These bells are a special type of barred instrument where the bars can be removed from the case and played individually, and by many students in a class at the same time. They can be used for playing melodies, as well as harmonics and chords. As students begin their transition to playing the barred instruments with mallets, being able to separate the bars and distribute among individuals in the class provides an optimal playing experience. They can focus on their individual bar, then gradually add more pitches (one at a time) to their playing. Once they have mastered the basics with the resonator bells, they will eventually transition to the full barred instruments such as the Xylophones, Glockenspiels, and Metallophones. They will also continue to develop their concept of beat, playing various rhythm patterns, proper playing technique, just to name a few of the added benefits.
