It had been a rainy week with no sunshine or outside play time...my kids were miserable and their attention-span was non-existent. As I was attempting to wrap up a lesson on plot structure, the wiggles and movement of my students was overwhelming. One of my students suddenly piped up, "why don't they make desks for kids so they can stand up instead of having to sit in these desks all day?". I confidently told him that such desks do exist and even shared about the bouncy bands that were avaliable in my previous, affluent, private school classroom. And then, my innocent students inquired, "So why can't we have them?". Adding these items to my classroom will allow these energetic students the flexibility to stay engaged both mentally and physically throughout the lesson. Students will be able to quietly stand at the back of the classroom using their Alphabetter Stand-Up Desk and Stool and complete their assignments, allowing movement and flexibility. The Bouncy Bands will be also be added to all classroom desk to give all students the opportunity to flex their muscles quietly at their seat without disrupting their classmates. This increased productivity will be a great boast in the moral of my students and the atmosphere of my classroom.
