These urban student athletes don't have much, and these materials are simply needed for them to compete daily in a sport that is traditionally played in affluent suburban areas. We have athletes who are first generation players, learning the language as they learn the game. We have had athletes go on to attend Yale. The lacrosse team is everything this country is. We are a melting pot of multi cultural, economic diverse great kids that just need some help. At the end of practice I am collecting my pocket change so kids can take a bus home. If they can't afford bus costs how can they be expected to buy equipment. The items we are looking for are not the most expensive. As a matter of fact the items we are looking for are the least expensive or close to it that we can find. Often we have our opponents coaches compliment our team on how hard they play, and how much fun they have while playing. The equipment we receive will be put to great use and be appreciated by all in our "LAX FAM."
