My students are in the north part of the inner city. All of the students are on free or reduced-price lunches and many of them face challenges that would be unthinkable. Despite these challenges, many of them come to school with a smile on their face and a willingness to learn. Many of my students are not English speakers and I do my best to teach them the universal language of music. Many of my students are already passionate about music. They are always excited to see me and they always ask what we will be doing in music. The students are very misunderstood. I see my students for what they truly are. They are confused and sometimes frustrated but I know that they are amazing kids trying their very best. I want to give them something that they can look forward to for the rest of their lives. It is a school of about three hundred with the best staff I have ever known.
