I am teaching my students to find factual evidence to gain knowledge about both sides of an argument and support their beliefs (i.e. whether we should promote space exploration or underwater exploration). They will be able to advocate for their side of the argument based on researched facts and not just based on other people's beliefs or what they have heard through the grapevine. My hope is to build their capacity to become research enthusiasts on topics they feel strongly about. My hope is for them to reach out to organizations once they have found their voice from researching their topics. Through this they will be able to debate on topics with factual evidence and perhaps make a difference in our world. *The topics chosen for books were voted upon by my students.
