About 95% of my students are African American, and range from 9th-12th grade. The school I currently work at is a low income school with kids who come from very different backgrounds. The students that I work with are on 3rd-6th grade reading levels, and need many of their lessons modified so that they can better grasp the concepts being taught. The students learn in various ways which is why tablets would be a great addition to the classroom. The classes that I teach have very lively and entertaining students. I have many of them in both my self-contained English class and Reading Intervention class. The students work very hard each and every day despite having a disability. Many of them would like to attend college after graduating high school. The school I am at is predominantly African American, with a lot of the students falling under the low income category. We are a newer high school in the area, which has made it difficult to get funding for certain things that would be useful.
