Up to this point, the 4th grade students have used the recorder to fulfill this instrument prep portion of the general music curriculum. This will also help to assist with the melody portion of the general music curriculum and with treble clef note reading. The students have never been exposed to a strings curriculum and I think it would be amazing to finally give them some string experience. A ukulele program also is not a typical string instrument and makes it exciting for the students. With sounds of the islands students will be motivated to learn these new and exciting instruments.
