I teach in a K-6 building. Our population changed last year from K-5 to K-6, and we need more outlets for the students. The students who are usually in a junior high gymnasium are now still stuck in an elementary school space. Space is limited both inside and outside. It has become difficult to get all students involved, and behaviors have really become a problem this year. I hate to sit students out. I really dislike to rotate teams but it has turned into that this year with class sizes up to 32. While the students are waiting their turns to rotate in they could be using iPads to watch videos of skills or actually video each other. There are also many apps for students to track their own progress and get their parents involved. I do not have access to my computer during the teaching day, and bringing technology into the gymnasium can be nothing but a benefit to all that are involved.
