The backpacks for this project will provide a sense of belonging to the refugee children immigrating to our country and starting school in our school district. The backpacks will be filled with school supplies and other resources available in our city to help them. Many refugees students come to America with only the clothes on their back and nothing else. This project will allow these students to start school at least with a new backpack, something we may take for granted but means the world to these students. These backpacks are one component of a larger family event to welcome refugees to our city and school district.
