If you want to know who my kids are truly, only writing about them is an injustice. They are more than the words used to describe them: kind, loving, unique, at risk, economically low, hardworking and valuable. The 24 children in my classroom come to school every day with a new beginning, no matter how the previous day went. I stand up in front of them, kneel by their side and sit by them at the carpet, all to teach them the subjects Math, Reading, Social Studies, and Science. However, every once in a while I am hit with a lesson they are ready to teach me: there are two sides to a story, it is okay to be loud, not everything works the same for everyone, plans change and sometimes school is the safest place to be yourself and grow. My students are my first year students that will lead me into being a better teacher, mentor and leader. I see hope, happiness and understanding in their eyes every day.
