Pop-Its, and other Popping fidget toys are all the rage. They are all over the stores and students love collecting all the different shapes. Now we can put this fun toy to Mathematical use! These bubble mats can be used in my classroom for help with addition and subtraction! I plan to take these 10x10 mats and use them instead of 100s charts. This will give students a tactile feel for adding and subtracting within 100. These bubble mats will make math time more engaging for students by bringing in their favorite out of school activity (Pop-Its) into the classroom. My project will allow my class to each have their own bubble mat to work with plus a few bubble mat games for math centers/rotations to keep the fun going! Personally, I love playing with these mats, I find them very calming and relaxing and love how it can be used to help students recognize the relationship between ones, tens, and hundreds.
