We are a low income school located in an inner city in Mississippi. We take pride in high expectations and high standards for all students. Our students come from a wide range of families. Some are homeless, misplaced, in foster care, or between homes. We have a great staff here dedicated to ensuring student safety and a positive environment for those students who come to school for more than learning. We look at our classrooms like a family. I am often called "mom" by mistake in my fifth grade class. I see that it is my responsibility to teach the children more than just standards. We need to teach responsibility, respect, integrity, self-control, discipline, and love. It can be quite difficult for some students to know what love is when they get here, but they will always leave my room knowing they had it here.
