Long gone are the days of teachers standing in front of a class yelling "sit down and be quiet!" Our 21st Century learners love to explore the world around them through experiences, not lectures in the classroom. They learn through collaborating with their peers in highly engaging meaningful lessons, hand-on activities, and real world experiences. Our students learn about how plants and animals are interdependent. They learn about oviparous animals and watch chicks hatch in the classroom. Students become botanists and nurture seeds into seedlings, roots, stems, and then flowers. As meteorologists, they study weather patterns and predict weather. As physicists, students learn about force and motion. They engineer houses that can withstand powerful forces. All of these activities happen through reading, writing, mathematics, and arts through integrated units of study. Not a bad resume for a 5 year old, a 21st Century Learner!
