My students have special needs. They are in a "resource room" with me for Language arts. They are brilliant, imaginative, and hardworking. Writing is a challenge for them. Many lack the fine motor skills required to hold a pencil or write legibly. Others suffer from conditions like dyslexia which makes spelling a problem. My students become frustrated trying to overcome these difficulties, that they give up, and their idea is never fully expressed. Writing is a process, but the act of writing is so painful for them, that they dread any revision, as they feel they are starting over. They want to produce a quality written work, but the actual act of writing with a pen or pencil is too difficult for them.
