My name is Dana McTamney and I am a third grade teacher in the West Philadelphia area of the city. My students come to school everyday because they know it is a safe place for them and they will have the opportunity to read, write, work in small groups, participate in discussion groups, use manipulatives to work on math equations and so much more. Belmont also offers this low income area after school clubs and programs , such as homework help, cooking classes, sports groups and drama groups. I am looking to add to the many opportunities they already have by bringing technology into my classroom and allowing them to explore the world in an appropriate way. My students love to research, read and play educational games but with only 2 computers in my class, their time is limited. My project will allow more students to spend time researching, reading and practicing and enhancing their skills through technology.
